it's late, and i'm in love

It's quite late because I had a latte at about 9:00 so I'm not the least bit tired. So I'm blogging!

This last weekend I went to brunch for the first time! :) Sunday brunch at Pago with my cute cute boyfriend. (He was talking to the man at the table next to us about coffee in this picture.)

I just love when they give you a little creamer cup like this :D Really good coffee too.

I had croque monsieur, which didn't contribute much to my diet but man was it delicious :)

I found all the other people having brunch to be quite amusing. They were exactly the kind of people I'd picture to be "brunch people." Pretty classy, but pretty laid-back, and you can tell they're thoroughly enjoying their Sunday before another long week at the office. After we ate, we went to Ikea and I got a picture frame for my Beach House concert poster. I got home and it wasn't the right size. So I'll be returning it and probably just saving the $25 because I got a parking ticket today, and I'm just plain broke :(

Today was pretty productive, I guess. I was way behind in math so I caught up a little, then cleaned my house because I finally had the energy. It's still not quite as clean as it should be haha. BUT I stuck to my diet today, which was productive, but probably only because I wasn't hungry on account of all the coffee I drank today...

In other news, Kiss Each Other Clean by Iron & Wine was released today. (But I first listented to it Sunday.) And it's so damn lovely I can't stop listening. "Walking Far From Home" is my favorite song of the week... month... it's amazing. I rarely get this excited about new albums. I mean, it happens fairly often, but not with everything. Buy this album, kids. Now.

give my umbrella to the rain dogs

Today was such a lovely day! I had ramen noodles for breakfast om nom nom

(I'm getting really tired of my webcam pictures. If I had a macbook with PhotoBooth I'd be all game! Love PhotoBooth. But my windows web cam is horrid. Ugh. Anyway.)

Loved my outfit today. It's amazing what a perfect outfit can do :) I decided to try out the long-sleeve sweater/shirt over plaid collared shirt trend. Don't know if anyone else but me has noticed it. But it's so cute. Now I want more long-sleeve, fitted sweaters and plaid shirts :) Well, I always want plaid shirts. Also wore my cute little one-armed robot around my neck. Love him! Threw on some skinny jeans and my completely destroyed oxfords and what a cute outfit. Like a little schoolboy. That likes robots.

So I went to French, which was pretty challenging today. We're learning about the ridiculous French articles, and you know... just how ridiculous they are. I am so tired after that class, haha. In English, I'm a bit of a mumbler, but in French that is not allowed. You use every muscle in your lower face.

Then I finished up my humanities homework at Nostalgia, got some food, caught up on some MuggleCast, then back to school. We shared our 3-D sculptures in humanities, which was so fun. The assignment was to make a 3-D paper sculpture (or three) to describe the words "dream," "scheme," and "favorite." We had to get in groups and give each other adjectives describing our sculptures and the creators. The professor went around and gave adjectives too. She stopped by mine, looked very intrigued, and gave me "unique." I was thrilled :) She's such a smart lady, so I'm very flattered.

I just had some dinner while doing some French work, and when Ryan gets off work we're headin' to the gym. I can go tonight because I can sleep in tomorrow!

Awesome day.

Tumbling through the trees...

"King of Carrot Flowers Part 1" I think is that one song, for me, that explains everything. It's not my favorite song, by any means... but from that unforgettable guitar intro to the lyrics themselves, those two minutes both wrench my stomach in infinite sadness and illuminate everything around me with warmth. I cannot listen to it lightly; it takes me out of my own body.

It takes strength.

Reviews of my classes thus far!

Math 1050: College Algebra
For one thing, I understand it! That's a plus. If I do recall though, I usually start every math class understanding it, and then it's all downhill from there. I'm going to try to keep clinging onto it though. The professor can be annoying. He takes really long pauses and just stares, and makes really awkward math jokes. Also, there's multiple group projects in the future. I mean, seriously? GROUP math projects? I don't know, maybe it will help.

French 1010: Beginning French I
This class is so intense. In such a lovely way. It's 5 credits, so it was expected, so I felt and feel prepared. The class is 2 hours and 20 minutes long, so by the end of it, my brain is so dead, and I'm repeating French phrases in my head for the next hour after. But I've learned so much in just two class periods that I feel like I'll have such a good grasp of the language by the end of this semester, which is exciting. The professor is pretty neat. She definitely has French humor, and I'm not quite sure what that is, but I know she definitely has it.

Humanities 1100: Intro to Humanities
I enjoy this class so much. The professor is so friendly and has such a passion for the humanities. Also, it's kind of like an art class, which is so fun! I feel bad for the people who consider themselves bad at art, but for me it's great. It's a LOT of reading, but it's not bad. And we're watching The Laramie Project right now. So great.

Looks like it's gonna snow today. Work until 3, and then I know I should take a loooooooong nap. Sounds cozy and wonderful.

What can you do

It's getting better. Hopefully school will be the last piece of the puzzle. Hopefully I'll meet some more sweet people there, and hopefully it will keep me busy enough that I stop spending money hah. I do not regret the purchase of this sweater though ^^^ Best purchase in a while!

Ryan took me on a kind of surprise date to The Pie tonight. Yay! And we're going to the Macaroni Grill tomorrow, yay! And I'm probably just going to relax Saturday and Sunday, and cherish the relaxation before life starts to get insanely...insane.

I've stayed up way too late this whole week. I should probably get some rest for our second day of grand opening at work tomorrow! I must say... I kick ass at my job. I wish I could kick ass at every aspect of my life too. I'm going to try my absolute hardest at school, and I really mean that. I can't believe I go back in four days! I'm so excited :)

Ohh, habits die hard when you got a sentimental heart.

Actually.

Karen: Tell me, if you were in my position, what would you do?
Harry: What position is that?
Karen: Imagine your husband bought a gold necklace, and come Christmas gave it to somebody else...
Harry: Oh, Karen...
Karen: Would you wait around to find out...
Parent: Good night!
Karen: Night, night. Happy Christmas!
[back to Harry]
Karen: Would you wait around to find out if it's just a necklace... or if it's sex and a necklace, or if... worst of all, it's a necklace and love? Would you stay? Knowing life would always be a little bit worse? Or would you cut and run?
Harry: Oh, God. I am so in the wrong. The classic fool...
Karen: [voice breaking] Yes, but you've also made a fool out of me, and you've made the life I lead foolish too.

Monologue.

"Do you know how much I must love you, if after all the things you've said to me, I still want you to stay? You can look all you want... but no one's ever gonna love you more than I do."

One hell of a "fresh start" to 2011.
